WATER SAFETY IRELAND
Children from all classes will be completing the Water Safety Ireland's PAWS (Primary Aquatics Water Safety) programme over the next few weeks. This programme outlines the essential life-saving guidelines that every child needs to know. Further information about PAWS is available at the following link https://watersafety.ie/primary-school/
In the meantime below is advice for children of the dangers of water at home/ in the local area.
Even when having fun at home, or in someone else’s home, always remember the dangers in and around water.
Paddling pools are great fun, but always ensure an adult is with you to observe and ensure your safety. When playing in home pools or paddling pools, the same rules about knowing the depths, jumping, diving etc will apply. Always empty the water when you are finished in the paddling pool.
Around Ponds/Lakes/Rivers/Streams.... Never enter the water. You do not know the depth, there may be water plants/weeds at the bottom, you could become entangled in, which would restrict your exit and cause you harm.
