All classes in our school visited an SFI Discover Centre in the first term.
Junior Infants visited Doneraile Wildlife Park
Senior Infants and 1st class visited Fota Wildlife Park
2nd, 3rd, 4th & 5th class visited Blackrock Observatory in Cork.
5th & 6th class visited Lifetime Lab in Cork.
On Monday, 1st October, 2018, 2nd, 3rd, 4th and 5th class visited the Blackrock Observatory in Cork.
As part of this visit, they visited the castle and also took part in an interactive activity travelling to space, using technology as a tool.
They also took part in a workshop for Space Week, where they created sundials and learned about the sun and shadows.
All classes thoroughly enjoyed their day and learned a lot from the experience.
On Tuesday, 9th October, Seniors and 1st Class visited Fota Wildlife Park.
They enjoyed a guided tour of the Park and also went on a Bug hunt, where they explored the local habitat and investigated the local bug species.
On Friday, 12th October, the Junior Infants visited Doneraile Park and explored the local environment.
They collected a variety of conkers, cones and leaves from the ground.
They carried bug collectors and viewers to explore the mini-beasts.
On Monday, November 19th, 5th & 6th class visited the Lifetime Lab in Cork.
The theme of the visit was Electricity and they learned about conductors and insulators, electrical circuits among other things.
They were involved in hands on experiments throughout the day and learned so much about electrical circuits from their visit.
